The Marisurf project is progressing as planned. Screening was finished in mid 2017 and the consortium has selected 4 of the most promising strains to test further. These strains have desirable characteristics such as the ability to reduce surface tension and to produce foam and or act as an emulsifier. Our end users – Macphie, Marlow Foods, NIT and Apivita – are checking their suitability for use within their existing products and other consortium partners are checking that they are safe and suitable to use. Bio Base are working hard to work out the optimum way of manufacturing these strains at scale.
