Nanoimmunotech SL

Spain

NANOIMMUNOTECH, SL. (acronym: NIT) is the first European company dedicated to the multiple biofunctionalization and full characterization of nanomaterials for application in biomedical, pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. The company accounts with highly qualified professional human resources and a renowned scientific advisory board with wide experience in biotechnology, health and nanotechnology and has been recognized with several awards, such as the Technologically Innovative Company (EIBT) award. NIT has a vast experience in the design, synthesis (www.nitparticles.com) and functionalization (www.nitzipper.co) of nanometric materials for applications in molecular diagnostics, drug delivery and the study of biomolecular interactions, including the functionalization of nano- and microstructured materials with peptides involved in cellular internalization or adhesion, antibodies, enzymes, dyes, drugs, among others. Furthermore, NIT has a know-how in producing specific monoclonal antibodies on demand for specific biomedical and pharmaceutical applications, such as biosensing and therapeutics.

Main tasks: NIT is responsible for validation of the use of the biosurfactants for the synthesis of inorganic nanoparticles for application in biomedical, pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. NIT will include these biosurfactants in its production process and perform physicochemical characterization of the nanoparticles and in vivo assays (T-cell Dependent Antibody Response) to assess the lack of immunosuppression.

Up to five relevant previous projects/activities: The NIT team combines over 20 years of experience in synthesis and functionalization of nanomaterials such as inorganic nanoparticles, and NIT team is also involved in the field of Nanotoxicity, being members of National Platform of Nanomedicine (Nanomed Spain) and European Platform (ETP Nanomedicine), participating in several projects and networks related to nanosafety, and collaborating with groups in this field, e.g. the FP7 project NAREB, H2020 project BIOCAPAN, SMEi H2020 HEATSENS-S, and other national projects: ACACIA, INNOSABOR, NITELISA, HELLOKIT, COLIVAC. Relevant patents: “Covalently Biofunctionalized Supports”: (Patent P200931092; PCT/ES2010/070794), and “Multifunctionalized materials” (Patent P201130713; PCT/ES2012/070318).

Description of supporting infrastructure: The Company has two fully equipped R&D laboratories in Vigo and Zaragoza (Spain), and a laboratory animal facility, with everything needed for synthesis and functionalization of nanomaterials, cell culture and biological (in vivo and in vitro) and physicochemical characterization. NIT has laboratory equipment to perform TEM-EDX, SEM, Analysis of elements, Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy (NMR), ICP, Zeta potential, Dynamic light scattering (DLS), Fourier transform infrared Spectrophotometry (FTIR), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), Fluorescence spectrophotometry, UV-visible spectroscopy, Fluorescence and Confocal microscopy, and Flow Cytometry, among others.
